I am so excited that today I get to share with you the homeschool curriculum choices I made for my daughters Kindergarten year! Homeschool is one of my favorite things I get to do with my daughter and helping her cultivate a love for learning is so special to me. If you haven’t already checked out my blog post on our preschool curriculum choices I’ll link that here.
We decided to stick with The Good and The Beautiful for our main curriculum and have added in a couple supplemental resources for things like phonics that I am THRILLED to share about! If you’re interested in learning about what we chose for kindergarten keep on reading.
When choosing a curriculum it is crucial as the teacher that you love what you’re teaching. This love of learning and sharing is so captivating to your young learner. This also keeps you on the ball with your child’s education.
While placing my kindergarten order with The Good and The Beautiful I went ahead and purchased the Kindergarten Prep workbook. This is a short 30 lesson program to bridge pre-k and kindergarten. It focuses mainly on things like vowels and ensuring a good base for into to phonics.
This Language Arts Course Set is just stunning like all TGATB curriculum. Their website says “This full-year kindergarten language arts course incorporates God, family, nature, beautiful art, and strong moral values.” You receive the reading boosters with the workbook as well as free access to their Letter Tiles app and YouTube channel.
You guys… I love this phonics program! My daughter was really having a hard time with reading. I was so overwhelmed with how I was going to teach her to read because she was not having fun doing typical phonics sounds and blends. She was completely bored out of her mind and couldn’t see how that was going to help her read.
However, I found the Dash Into Learning phonics program took a leap of faith and ordered the first set. It was a hit right off the bat. I love these books because they’re adorable, have cute little characters your child can get to know and I love that in the first lesson your child can implement what they learned and read right away! It works but starting off with learning certain sounds and blends you’ll need to master to read the story. It’s a wonderful encouragement to a child. They also have other resources you can check out on their site like free printable’s, wooden dolls that match the characters and activity packs.
Dash Into Learning has print, cursive and and D’Nealian handwriting styles to choose from. My daughters favorite thing about the book was how interactive it was. Theres different tracing, coloring and maze pages throughout the book that she found very fun. One thing I want to note if you’re starting out with a handwriting course for your child, especially cursive is to make. sure the program you choose has the style of cursive you want you child to learn. Not all cursive styles are the same so its very important to keep in mind before purchasing.
We decided to continue with The Good and The Beautiful for math. My daughter really enjoyed it and I think its an excellent course for the younger years as its colorful, fun and interactive with the manipulative box it comes with.
One of my favorite things about The Good and The Beautiful is all their resources including apps, YouTube channel and free curriculum downloads. Below are all the links to access theses.
