Progessence Plus is an essential oil blend from Young Living. It’s description reads that it’s “designed specifically for women and made with natural, bioidentical progesterone from wild yam to promote well-being and feelings of relaxation, harmony, and balance.” Women of all ages can certainly benefit from taking progessence plus especially if your dealing with miscarriages, hormonal imbalances and general cycle issues.
Unfortunately, so many women are struggling with issues related to their cycle and hormones. Our hormonal systems are very delicate and so many things in the modern world have a direct a negative impact on us in massive ways. Below are some symptoms you might be experiencing related to hormonal imbalances.
My doctor recently told after my fourth miscarriage I would need to be prescribed synthetic progesterone in order to carry a pregnancy to term. That is what led me down the path to balancing hormones. Learning how to beat low progesterone and estrogen dominance after the doctors found a polyp on my uterus at 23 years old. You can find out more about that in my blog post here on Healing Estrogen Dominance.
Synthetic Progesterone is formally called Progestin. Unfortunately this synthetic form of real Progesterone can have some pretty unfortunate side effects including some cancers. In contrast to some studies which point to bioidentical forms of progesterone such as Progessence Plus in decreasing certain female related cancers
Progessence Plus is recommended to alternate between your inner thighs, stomach and feet. Applying 2-4 drops up to a maximum of two sessions a day. I’ve read in some groups to start of slow and I would definitely agree. This stuff is powerful and potent. I didn’t start off slow, I went all in fast and I felt AMAZING! Because, of that I thought everything was good. I had no rash and my energy was the best it had been since middle school.
However, when it came time for my period it was late by a about 5 days. I looked into it and I don’t think this is super common but I read it can delay your period if you start too fast. I stopped taking it and got my period in less than 24 hours. Still unsure if this was a coincidence but think it’s smart to take the advice to start slow haha!
I recommend starting with one drop and increase by a drop every week or so until you get up to the recommended dosage. I understand how tempting it could be to increase fast especially if you’re struggling but its better to let your body adapt first.
The answer is it varies from person to person. For some it may take a month or a few cycles and some much sooner. I noticed significant effects on my energy levels pretty quickly which was something I was not expecting. I’ve dealt with chronic fatigue for as long as I could remember and in about 2 weeks I noticed that it had been a few days with nicely sustained energy levels.
The best part was by my next cycle I ovulated on day 14! This was huge considering the fact that previously I was ovulating any where from cd 17-20. My boobs also started becoming sore after ovulation which was something I’ve never experienced previously but this was an indicator my hormones were fluctuating as they should in my luteal phase.
Whether or not you use Progessence Plus during pregnancy should be consulted with your Midwife or OBGYN. Progesterone in your body should increase during pregnancy on it’s own. However, for some women it doesn’t and this can increase your chances of a first trimester miscarriage. If you’ve dealt with recurrent miscarriages it might be difficult but urge your doctor to test your progesterone levels as soon as possible. Based off the results and their suggestion you can ask them if you can start or continue to take it during pregnancy. I know of many women that do with consent from their healthcare provider so don’t be shy to ask!
This oil has been changing my life.. I know that sounds pretty dramatic but I know that anyone out there struggling with your hormones you know how much it impacts your life.
