Do you want to know how to make homeschool fun for your little one? Keep reading to see all my favorite product recommendations for young learners in preschool as well as early elementary!

I’m a first generation homeschooler with a 4 year old so we are just starting out. At this stage learning is all about fun and setting the foundation. We haven’t yet purchased a curriculum however, I plan on doing so next year for kindergarten.

As of now, I’ve been accumulating products for our homeschool cabinet that I will continue to use with future children as well as the early elementary school years. I’ve purchased quite a few things some that have worked and some that haven’t. Below I have listed some of the best products I’ve found that I think would make an excellent addition to your homeschool collection whether you are following a curriculum or not.

Posters

I found these posters on Amazon and I’m obsessed. The Amazon shop is called Hadley Designs. There are so many different designs as well as math and language arts posters for kids a little older I will definitely be ordering. They’re nice and big making it super easy to see. You get 16 different posters for $24.99!

Counting

I found this really cool math game that teaches counting! It works by balancing the correct amount frogs that equals the number on the other side!

My favorite resource for teaching kids to count are these Counting Bears from Amazon! I can’t find the neutral ones that I have but they have these really cute ones that I think comes with more! Not only are the super cute but they make counting fun. Another thing you can do is use these little puff balls if you want an even cheaper alternative.

Workbook

I’ve tried lots of workbooks and they are great! Especially if you are first introducing learning! We have this School Zone: Big Preschool workbook. It teaches Colors, Shapes, Numbers, Early Math, Alphabet, Pre-Writing, Phonics, Following Directions, and Reasoning. Highly recommend getting a big workbook for your preschooler!

Handwriting

Handwriting has probably been our most challenging task some letters seem to be easier than others. Because of that I’ve gone through a few items and these have been my favorite

Dry Erase Workbooks:

These are AWESOME! She works on certain letter everyday instead of wasting a ton of paper and money she can try over and over. I’ll give her these workbooks during the day to play with. They both have letter tracing but the lion one has number practice and even math problems!

Paper Workbooks:

Once I feel she has done well enough on a letter in the dry erase notebook I’ll give her this paper workbook to practice on paper.

Flashcards

We LOVE flashcards! I bring them in my purse when we go somewhere and I’ll have her practice. We also use them everyday at home! Very portable and takes up very little space. Not to mention these flashcards are so affordable… under $3 a piece!

You can flashcards for so many things like shapes, letters, numbers, colors etc.

Sight Words + Learning to Read

These flashcards are a new addition to our homeschool cabinet and they’re great! It comes with different levels to complete and makes getting through all the cards simpler. I like that all the cards are very plain because I noticed if I had cards with different colors or anything my daughter was only remembering the word based off that and not the actual word itself.

Magnet Letter Board

This magnet board is so cool! It come with upper and lowercase letters allowing children to learn the difference between the two. When they’re ready they can even even use it to learn how to spell things out.

Bible Lessons

For bible lessons we like to do memory verses to start off our day. I also like to read her a story from this Bible Stories in 5 minutes book! Our newest addition that I absolutely love is this The Bible Made Easy For Kids book! It has really great lessons that are short and concise.

Chapter Books

I wanted to mention these Sophie the Mouse chapter books we’ve been loving! Great little stories for little kids to hear you read aloud to them! If you’re look for a good and wholesome story for little ones definitely check these out! You can find The Hidden Cottage and The Great Bake Off on Amazon. They also have this bundle set thats a great price!

Games

Games are a great way to teach children in a way thats fun for everyone. We have a few games but this Matching Letter game is awesome! Teaches letter recognition as well as getting them familiar with spelling. You can either show the word for young children who don’t quite know how to spell yet. However, it can be a great way to teach spelling as they get older because you can hide the word!

Thats what we’ve decided to do to introduce learning and I think its gone super well! So many things we’ve been able to teach her to help prep for kindergarten! Thinking about starting kindergarten off with The Good and The Beautiful curriculum and really looking forward to that!
